Tiny multi talents
Even in a baby’s small foot, there are 28 bones, 107 ligaments, 19 muscles as well as joints and tendons which provide support and mobility. Amazing to see how such a small miracle turns into a stable and robust companion for life...
Small miracles
During the course of our lifetime, our feet carry us three to four times around the world. It is almost beyond belief, what splendid achievements are accomplished by small children’s feet. When they run, hop or jump, they support the multiple of the body’s weight. Step by step, however, feet must not only be stable and robust, at the same time they have to be tremendously flexible. That is why nature has given them a very special structure.
Even during the first months, the little feet move playfully and with ease. When they start to crawl, stand and walk, life becomes a bit more strenuous. From that moment on, much more is demanded of foot and leg muscles. The metarsal arch is formed. Muscles, ligaments and tendons are used increasingly with every day.
A master stroke of nature
The only thing needed now is that this masterpiece formed of bones, ligaments and muscles can develop freely. This will work if the muscular system is strengthened by movement and training. Shoes, which provide an ideal fitting quality, do not cut into the feet and help the child to use their full potential. In cooperation with paediatricians and orthopaedics, Elefanten has oriented itself at what nature has provided and developed shoes, which optimally support the natural development.
